Information about Rethymnon

This prefecture is known for its ollive production. The main city is Rethymno on the north coast. The tourism areas stretch from Georgioupoli to Bali on the north coast line and in the south the areas around plakias and Agia Galini.

The "Idi" mountains shape almost the whole landscape of the prefecture Rethymnon. On the slopes there are many villages that date back thousands of years. Excavation is still in progress.
